Where to Shop in Casablanca
Casablanca is the shopping city par excellence. All budgets can find their happiness there. Where does yours fit?
Maârif, an open-air shopping district:
The advantage of this former European quarter is that it concentrates both local boutiques and major international ready-to-wear franchises like Zara, Etam, Massimo Dutti or more accessible brands like Kiabi. In the small shops nestled in the alleys of old Maârif, you'll find a plethora of clothing, shoe, accessory, jewelry and perfume boutiques. On the chic Al Massira boulevard and in the adjacent streets, among jewelry stores, furniture shops and other luxury boutiques, the city's trendy youth meet in the neighborhood's fashionable cafés and brasseries.
Bab Marrakech, crafts and affordable ready-to-wear:
In the old medina, particularly at Bab Marrakech, prices are more affordable than in the modern city. Genuine leather enthusiasts will be spoiled for choice in specialized boutiques offering jackets, leather jackets, shoes, wallets and bags of 100% Moroccan manufacture. However, take time to check the quality of the leather and the finishing. For ready-to-wear, jeans, t-shirts, tracksuits and underwear are sold at competitive prices. If you're a brand enthusiast, beware of counterfeits nonetheless. On the crafts side, antiques, colorful babouches, copper or brass trays, teapots, candle holders, ashtrays and other decorative objects in ceramic or pottery will make perfect souvenir gifts for your loved ones. You can also find at bargain prices the ideal outfit for your next Mimouna: djellaba, gandoura, caftan or tunic. And don't hesitate to bargain!
Anfa Place and Morocco Mall, window shopping with feet in the water
These are the two favorite shopping centers for both Casablancans and tourists. Located on the Corniche, adjacent to the Four Seasons hotel, Anfa Place is a pleasant human-sized mall, where Moroccan boutiques like Alfa 55 mix with international brands such as Marks & Spencer, Charles & Keith or Swatch. Its quiet cafés and restaurants offer a refreshing break with a soothing view of the ocean. About 10 km away, the
Morocco Mall, built on 3 levels, offers a more 'grandiose' experience with its 250,000 m2, its 350 boutiques, its large aquarium and its musical fountains. High-end lovers, head to Luxury Island: Louis Vuitton, Fendi and Dior, to name just a few, present their latest collections there. Finally, an entire floor is dedicated to dining with 62 restaurants, fast-food outlets, tea rooms and cafés. You can sit on the terrace to grab a bite or sip fresh fruit juice while admiring the sea.
